Privacy policy

Last updated Version française

SYNEO Consulting (“SYNEO”, “we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain terms, what personal information we collect through syneo.ca, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what your rights are. It is written to meet Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Person in charge of protecting personal information

Our Privacy Officer is the person in charge of protecting personal information at SYNEO. For any question, request or complaint about this policy or your personal information, write to the Privacy Officer at privacy@syneo.ca.

What we collect

We collect as little as we can. This site has no accounts, no forms and no newsletter.

When you email us. If you write to us, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and, if we work together, to manage that relationship.

When you browse the site, if you accept cookies. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, how visitors arrive (a search engine, a link, typing the address), roughly where they are (city or region, derived from the IP address) and what device and browser they use. Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_40M8WWMCFW, that let it recognise a returning browser. They expire after two years.

When you browse the site, if you decline or haven’t chosen yet. No analytics cookies are set. The Google Analytics script still loads and sends Google anonymous signals that a page was viewed, without any cookie or identifier. Google uses them only to estimate overall traffic.

Your cookie choice. We remember whether you accepted or declined in your browser’s local storage (key syneo-consent), so we don’t ask again on every page. It never leaves your device.

What we don’t collect. We don’t use advertising or social media tracking, we don’t build profiles, we don’t sell or rent personal information, and we make no automated decisions about you. The fonts and images on this site are served from our own servers, not from third parties.

Analytics cookies are off by default. They are only set if you click Accept in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing your consent stops new cookies from being set. To remove cookies already stored, clear them in your browser settings.

By emailing us, you consent to us using your information to reply.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that run this site and our email, and only so they can provide their service to us:

  • Google (Google Analytics), for site statistics. Google does not log or store visitors’ IP addresses in Google Analytics, and its advertising features, including Google signals, are turned off.
  • Amazon Web Services, which hosts and delivers the site. Its servers process your IP address to send you the pages; we keep no visitor logs.
  • Microsoft, our email provider, which stores the messages you send us.

These providers are bound by contract to protect the information and use it only on our behalf. We never share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Information stored outside Québec

Google, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft may process and store information in the United States and other countries. Information held outside Québec can be subject to the laws of the country where it is stored.

How long we keep it

  • Emails: seven years after our last exchange, to meet our tax and accounting obligations. After that, we delete them.
  • Google Analytics: visit-level data is deleted after 60 days. Only aggregated statistics, which don’t identify anyone, are kept beyond that.
  • Your cookie choice: until you change it or clear your browser’s storage.

How we protect it

Access to personal information at SYNEO is limited to the people who need it. The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS), our accounts are protected by multi-factor authentication, and our service providers apply industry-standard security. If a confidentiality incident ever puts your information at risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

Your rights

You may at any time:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct it if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date;
  • withdraw your consent to its use;
  • ask us to stop disseminating it or to de-index it;
  • receive it in a structured, commonly used technological format, or have it sent to someone you designate;
  • ask how it was collected and who has had access to it.

To exercise any of these rights, email our Privacy Officer at privacy@syneo.ca. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will reply within 30 days, at no cost.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or, outside Québec, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
